dotshare - share Linux rices together with the dotfiles behind them.

Screenshots of a desktop are easy to find. The configs that produced them usually aren't. Every rice here comes with its actual files, readable in the browser and downloadable as one .tar.gz, so a setup you like is something you can try rather than just admire.

Browse by newest or most viewed, narrow things down by window manager, tag or author, and search - the search also looks at dotfile paths, so waybar or nvim finds rices that include them.

posting

No account, no sign-up: fill in the form and submit. A name and an email are optional. The email is only used to send you your private link and to tell you the outcome - it is never shown on the site.

Add dotfiles by pasting them, picking files, importing a whole folder, or uploading a .tar, .tar.gz or .zip. Binaries, anything inside .git and files over 256 KB are skipped automatically - this is a place for text configs.

review

Everything is read by a human before it appears, so your rice won't be visible right away. Once it's approved it shows up on the site, and you'll get an email if you left an address. Rejected posts are deleted along with their screenshots.

your private link

After posting you get a link with a secret key in it - shown on the page and emailed to you if you gave an address. It's the only way back to your rice: keep it and you can edit or delete your post at any time, without an account. Editing sends the rice back for review, so it's hidden again until it's approved. Lose the link and nobody can recover it for you.

using what you find

Every rice page has a one-line command that unpacks its dotfiles into ~/dotshare rather than over your own config. Read configs before you run them. These files are written by strangers, they are not reviewed line by line for safety, and a shell config can run anything your user can.

privacy

No trackers, no analytics, no third-party scripts or fonts - everything on this page is served from this server. Uploader emails are stored only to send the two notifications described above. Your IP is used for rate limiting and view counts.
